ROOTED IN COMMUNITY. DRIVEN BY PURPOSE.

OUR STORY

Founded in 2023 by a son-mother duo, Andre Taplin, a mechanical engineer and nonprofit leader, and his mother, a seasoned educator, Servicing Hands of Texas was born from a shared belief: every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed, no matter their background.

Growing up, Andre witnessed how language, income, and systemic gaps can hold families back, even when parents work hard and love deeply. His mother, with decades of experience in early childhood education, had seen firsthand how students from underserved homes often started school already behind—and how hard they had to work just to catch up.

Together, they envisioned an organization that would combine the discipline and systems-thinking of engineering with the nurturing, child-centered lens of education, a place where young children from multilingual, low-income households could begin their school journeys with confidence, joy, and readiness.

WHO WE SERVE

Servicing Hands of Texas focuses on the Greater Houston metropolitan area. We primarily serve:

  • Children aged 3 to 4 years old
  • From multilingual, low-income, and/or underserved households
  • Who might not otherwise qualify for public Pre-K, or whose families face barriers due to language, immigration status, or economic hardship

WHAT WE DO

We operate two core programs:

Bilingual STEAM Preschool Readiness:
A culturally responsive, bilingual early learning program rooted in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). This hands-on curriculum is designed to foster curiosity, language acquisition, and school readiness in our youngest learners.

Family Engagement & ESL Support:
A companion program for parents and caregivers, providing workshops, ESL support, and educational resources to empower families to take an active role in their child’s development and navigate the American school system with confidence.

OUR MISSION

Empowering Greater Houston’s multilingual and underserved preschoolers through STEAM education that builds curiosity, language skills, and school readiness.

OUR VISION

A future where families of all backgrounds see their children step into school empowered, prepared, and inspired to succeed on their own terms.

OUR CORE VALUES

Equity

We believe every child deserves a strong start.

Empowerment

We equip families and children with confidence and tools for lifelong success.

Curiosity

We nurture wonder through exploration and inquiry-based learning.

Cultural Respect

We celebrate the languages and traditions of every household.

Collaboration

We build trust by working hand-in-hand with families and communities.

Joy

We believe joyful learning is essential to early childhood development.

WHY IT MATTERS

Research shows that children who enter kindergarten already behind in literacy or language development are significantly less likely to meet later academic benchmarks (NAEYC, 2022). For children from immigrant or non-English-speaking households, these early gaps are often rooted in access, not ability.

Servicing Hands of Texas is designed to change that. We provide a safe, affirming, high-quality environment where children and families are empowered to overcome systemic barriers and unlock their full potential.

WHERE WE’RE GOING

As we grow, our goal is to expand our services across Houston and build long-term partnerships with local school districts, churches, and community-based organizations. We are laying the foundation for generational change—one child, one family, and one classroom at a time.
